Office/Gift Shop Staff
Looking for a fun volunteer opportunity? The Native American Community Center of Bloomington needs volunteers to help staff our office and gift shop at 1101 N. Dunn St.
You do not need to be American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian to volunteer in the office, but we do ask everyone who works in the office to become familiar with the diversity of Native cultures (we can help with this). Volunteers must be reliable and honest, and a sense of humor is strongly preferred! College students are welcome.
If you are interested, just e-mail volunteer[at]naccbloomington[dot]org! We'll send you a volunteer application and set up a time to meet.
Fall Shifts Needed: (Minimum shift: one hour.)
M: 1-4 PM, 6-8 PM
W: 3-8 PM
Th: 5-8 PM
F: 6-8 PM
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OFFICE/GIFT SHOP VOLUNTEERS:
- Greet visitors
- Become familiar with NACC and other resources available to Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians
- Become familiar with NACC and other resources available to the general public wishing to learn about Native Americans
- Explain these resources to visitors
- Explain the NACC
- Take messages for NACC directors
- Run the small (one table) gift shop within the office by selling items, calculating sales tax, and handling payments
- Keep records of visitors, messages, and sales during your shift
- Monitor the office
- (Optional) work on other NACC projects during your time in the office or develop a weekly program (such as a book club, writer's group, etc.)
Do you have volunteer interests that aren't reflected in our Volunteer Network requests?
That's great, too! Just e-mail Becca Riall, our Volunteer Manager, at volunteer [at] naccbloomington [dot] org . We love volunteers who bring their own interests and initiative to NACC!
