Welcome!

Native American Community Center of Bloomington, Inc., is a nonprofit serving the American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian community of southern Indiana. We are completely volunteer-run, with a majority-Native board.

Mission

Our mission includes promoting cultural survival among indigenous people in Bloomington, Indiana, and surrounding areas. To do this, we strive to create a strong community, advocate for American Indians with other organizations and agencies, and create resources. We also educate the general public about American Indians through outreach programs, presentations, and free public programs.

The Community Center

The Native American Community Center is located at 1101 N. Dunn St. (downstairs in the Windfall Dancers Building).

Everyone is welcome.

Featured Event of the Month: NACC Cleans Up Lake Griffy for MLK Day

t's nearly time for the second annual cleaning of Lake Griffy by the Native American Community Center, in partnership with the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department and in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Come learn about Native plants and nature preservation and help the Bloomington community protect its natural treasures!

(Also, there will be food.)

NACC community members will clean up around Lake Griffy from 10 am until 3pm. Gloves, garbage bags, snacks and hot chocolate will be provided. Last year, we ended up removing the invasive and stabby plant, multiflora rose, so please do wear appropriate clothing.

We do need you to sign up ahead of time so we can feed you! E-mail info@naccbloomington.org

The cleanup is cosponsored by a City of Bloomington A Day ON! Not a Day Off! Day of Service Martin Luther King, Jr., Day grant.

Gift Shop

The NACC gift shop is now open! Featured items this month include locally hand-made jewelry (some American Indian-made, some donated by talented allies) and delicious Tanka Bars. We have items at a wide range of prices.

All proceeds fund NACC programs.
